Atomic Structure - The Electromagnetic Spectrum

K, for those with problems memorising the order of electromagnetic spectrum *like me*, here's a mnemonic to help us :') K, it doesnt make sense but i guess it will help me during my finals *fingers crossed* so i hope it will help you all too :) I wrote gamma radiation as J because the small greek letter for gamma looks a bit like j *i think* sooo... there you go, a mnemonic :) enjoy :)

Definitions - Energetics

So recently at school, I studied The Energetics. Although the highlight of this chapter is not memorising definitions, knowing some definitions would definitely help us getting some marks. So, there you go, some definitions of terms  you will possibly find in chapter 5 of your Chemistry HL Book :) 

Frankly speaking, I didn't suddenly come up with those definitions above :( thanks to Steve Owen's Chemistry for IB for helping me with the definitions. Some definitions are rephrased,  though :)

What's Important in Revising?

What's most important in revising? Books? Study guides? Enthusiasm? Unlimited supply of snack? Umm... I'm not sure about the latter one but I know I cannot revise without syllabus in my hands. Yes, SYLLABUS. It's like a guidebook, telling us what to study and what is not necessary. Syllabus keeps us in track and helps us to use your time efficiently. This is why I would like to share the syllabus, especially Chemistry.

In the syllabus, you can find material for SL, HL, and Options. We can see the interactive syllabus here. If you guys wish to have the pdf version of it click here. Credits to Holy Heart High School for putting the syllabus up online :)

After making sure that we have syllabus with us, now it's time to use it for our advantage *evil laugh* hmm.. well, use it wisely, i mean ;)

1. we can use it as a checklist. we can simply put a tick against it and know what we have studied or what we need to study.
2. use colours! giving colour to text is like giving names to people. for me, it helps me to memorise the location of definition of mole, molar mass, etc. why do i need to memorise the location? well, I don't memorise definitions very well so I need to keep referring to guides to know the definitions.. and knowing where it is does help ;)
3. scribble scribble scribble! write extra notes next to boxes of expectation (i call the 'assessment statement' as boxes of expectation ;)). When we do this, it's like we gather all important info about the material assessed in one little neat box.

Epoxy Coating vs Polyurethane Coating

Hello, pals :)

Today's topic is about coating. I would firstly share the Prezi presentation on Epoxy Coating vs Polyurethane Coating. This presentation was presented as my Group 4 Project presentation. I did presentation on, obviously, epoxy coating ;) I tried to compare it with polyurethane coating, which is another type of coating.

If you notice, this presentation is very brief and relatively short. This is because I only had 3 minutes to present my materials.

Although study about epoxy coating (in great details) is not in IB Chemistry syllabus, but we will encounter polyurethane and epoxy under organic chemistry.
