What To Do During Holiday?

Volunteering during summer? Why not?

Hi guys!

How is your holiday going? Is it a relaxing, adventurous, or a... a boring one? Well, if it's the latter one, why don't we go out and look for some volunteering work we can do? This holiday, I had the chance to join Ronald McDonald's Charity House as a volunteer and if you want to hear more stories and ideas, here they are:

So I heard of this organisation during the CAS Fair (you IB folks must be familiar with this) at school. And during holiday, I decided to give myself a chance to join this organisation. It took me around 1 and a half week (or probably more, I can't remember) before I finally joined them. Soon after that, I was assigned as a volunteer at Rumah Sakit (Hospital) Cipto Mangunkusumo. At the hospital, I get to have some fun with the kids there :)

So, now how to join? In Indonesia, there's only 1 RMCH, which is at Rumah Sakit Cipto Mangunkusumo. And if you're interested to join, simply scoot here. While for those outside Indonesia, simply google RMCH in your area and maybe you can volunteer too :)

Who's excited to spend their summer enjoying good reads and doing volunteering at the same time? If that's you, Project Gutenberg, a project that provides e-books, calls for people like you! I myself am a volunteer here and so far, I enjoy reading and proofreading books here. Simply click this link and their website welcomes you :)

Join forums, conferences, festival, or summer school
Are you one of those nerds that crave for some intellectual inputs during the summer? Hmm.. why don't join forums and pour out your thoughts into it? It can be online forums, or really a forum which needs you to be physically present at the event. Some of the events for Indonesia's buzzed-up youths are:

Go make your own project!
Not so enthusiastic in joining people's projects? Well, maybe you should make one of your own! Selling cookies and donate the profit to charity house, feed the less-privileged ones, or maybe teach kids can be as fun as proofreading at Project Gutenberg too! Spot your society's need or perhaps go with what captures your interest and make a project out of it. Go with your friends, or do it on your own, either way are perfect an eventful summer!
